Hey! I'm Beatrix Eloise Rowles and I'm 23.
I have a deep interest in literature, reading and writing, speech, and how the tone of voice correlates with body language, especially facial movements.
I have a father, grand-parents, uncles and aunties that were born deaf. They have never known the power of the voice. They have never understood the words 'tune' 'pitch' and 'harmony'. They've never known the harsh tone of an angry man shouting in a drunken rage, and they've never heard the soft notes of a mother lulling her baby to sleep.
How would you ever understand if you've never heard?
But what they have learnt is how to distinguish the mood of the character from facial movements and mannerisms, gestures and body language.
What if I told you that not only is my body language the way I delve deep into a story and narrate, but this language is one that has allowed me to portray my voice successfully, inspired by those of my relatives who cannot hear.
And that.. is my story.
